Today, “Pesce Azzurro Cefalù” owns two plants.
The first one, in Contrada Presidiana, next to the fishing port of Cefalù, is placed within an ancient tonnara, a typical tunny-fishing structure. Restored and transformed into a modern plant in the 1970s, it was originally used for the manufacturing of pesce azzurro (anchovies and sardines) only. In order to meet the market’s requests, nowadays, a combination of handicraft and of specialized technology allows us to produce different types of fish products, and in different sizes, but always according to the old Sicilian traditions.
The second factory, placed in Contrada Piana Marsala, in the new industrial district of Cefalù, is at work since 10 years (2004), and, besides providing the administration offices to our society, is dedicated to the manufacturing of smoked and pickled fish.
